Google's
Chrome
browser
is highly known for its vast array of
extensions
that enhance functionality. Among these
tools
is an add-on known as Folx, a
download manager
chrome extension
, which has gained attention in the online community. This article aims to provide a thorough review of this chrome extension based on its aggregate rating and user reviews.
Overview of the Chrome Extension
The Folx chrome extension is a utility tool that allows automatic capturing of download links or adding new downloads. It works best with version 5.0 and above of Folx. This chrome extension is designed for fast and convenient downloading of files from the Internet. Users can prioritize downloads, resume interrupted downloads, and split downloads into threads, making it a potential top chrome extension for file management.
Functionality and Features
This chrome extension features an easy Mac-style interface. It allows for convenient scheduling of the downloading process, which can be integrated with iTunes. The extension also enables users to control the download speed, use tags for the downloaded files for easy location, and more.
User Reviews and Ratings
Despite its appealing functionalities, this chrome extension has a low aggregate rating of 2.5 out of 5 stars. This rating is derived from a variety of user experiences, both positive and negative.
Some users, like Shivasharma Nallaikkumaran and Sarah McGarr, label it as the 'best downloader for Mac' and that it 'works perfectly fine' respectively. These users have had a positive experience, praising the extension's functionality and convenience.
However, numerous users have reported issues, primarily regarding the tool's compatibility with Mac. Ha giang Tran phan and Kiba Fox reported that the extension is 'not working on Mac.'
Other users, like Andrew Kartakusuma, have highlighted that free software like the 'neat downloader' outperforms the paid Folx chrome extension. A significant downside of Folx, as mentioned by Andrew, is that it lacks a pop-up feature like IDM (Internet Download Manager) and other free software.
Conclusion
The Folx chrome extension offers a variety of features that can enhance the file downloading experience. However, its low aggregate rating, coupled with several user complaints about its Mac compatibility and lack of certain features, make it a less recommended choice among chrome extensions. Users considering this tool should weigh their needs against the extension's functionalities and noted shortcomings.
